WIllmore's 1938, the Stanwell Road cafe, has released CCTV footage of youths damaging their recently installed outdoor seating area, or parklet.

Captured at 01:20 this morning (12 June), the video shows one young male kicking another into the plastic screen between tables.

The individual then says: "I don't give a f**k".

The screen partially dislodged from its frame and a large portion snapped away. Owners Charlotte Court and Matt Holland have been able to temporarily reaffix what remains of the screen to its frame.

They were in good spirits this morning despite the incident and the inconvenience it has caused.

"It's just disappointing really," Matt told Nub News. "It's going to cost us money."

"You come so far and then someone comes and does this," continued Charlotte.

They have posted the footage on their Facebook page and urge those responsible "to come forward and pay for the criminal damage".

The parklets opened for the first time on just 26 April as part of a pilot scheme which aims to help hospitality businesses in the town recover from the pandemic.
