Cardiff Bus will now provide free travel on all of their buses to NHS staff during the coronavirus outbreak to show their support for those working on the frontline.

They said: ''From Thursday 26 March, until further notice, NHS staff will be able to travel for free on all our buses. When you board the bus, just show you NHS staff ID to the driver, and travel for free.''

Since yesterday they are also following Sunday timetables every day of the week (Monday through to Sunday) on most routes, with the exception of services 1, 2, 51, 65/65A, 95, 96A & H59:

• Services 1 & 2 - these services will follow Saturday timetables Monday-Saturday until further notice. No service on Sundays.

• Service 51 - special timetable with 2 morning journeys to connect Pentwyn and Cyncoed to Heath Hospital Monday - Friday. Visit the Routes & Maps page and select a future date to view times.

• Service 65/65A - this service will follow its Monday - Friday timetable on weekdays. No service on Saturdays or Sundays.

• Service 95 - this service will follow a special timetable Monday - Friday, and Sunday timetables on weekends. View special Monday - Friday timetable here.

• Service 96A - buses will follow Sunday timetables but extra morning journeys will run from Barry towards Cardiff during the week (Monday - Friday). Visit the Routes & Maps page and select a future date to view times.

• Service H59 - this hospital Park & Ride service will follow its normal Monday - Friday timetables on weekdays. No service on Saturdays or Sundays.

• Service 63 will follow Sunday timetable but only run as far as Ty Nant Court, not running to Pentyrch/Creigiau. For buses to Pentyrch and Creigiau please contact Traveline Cymru on 0800 464 0000 or via their social media channels.

Cardiff Bus are still running buses to ensure key workers can get to and from work and to access shops for essential items.

They said: ''Again, we would like to thank our customers for their continued support and understanding during these unprecedented times. We know that many of you rely on buses every day, and the kind messages you've sent us of support are really appreciated. We would also like to thank our staff for their part in enabling us to continue running. Thank you.''
