Deb Evans and Malcolm Phillips about to present the petition

Campaigners hoping to improve community safety by improve street lighting in a part of Penarth have handed in a petition.

Community Councillors Malcolm Phillips, Debbie Evans and Colin Asbrey from Plaid Cymru today (Friday, 13 January) continued the WISE (Walk In Safer Environments ) campaign by attending at United Welsh Housing (UWH) Association offices in Caerphilly to lobby management and to hand in the petition.

The petition was recently organised during the light vigil protest demanding for lighting to be provided on the footpath at the rear of Eastbrook station leading to the Caerleon Road and Caerwent Close estates following an attack on a 14 year old.

The petition was received by Craig Singler Neighbourhood Manager representing UWH.

A further meeting is planned for next week and it is hoped that the campaign will produce a satisfactory result for the users of this footpath.
