The bus reportedly swerved to avoid a tree branch

AN INCIDENT at Penarth Marina yesterday left a NAT bus with shattered windows, after the driver allegedly swerved to miss a tree branch and hit a parked car.

A member of staff at the marina was called to the scene, which occurred at late yesterday afternoon.

"I didn't see or hear the crash, as we were so busy yesterday. I got a phone call and one of the residents described what happened," said the member of staff.

"I believe the bus swerved to miss a tree branch, and clipped a door that was open on the rear of a vehicle.

"It went wide to avoid the tree branch but then it hit a tailgate that was open on a van."

The bus remained at the scene for 90 minutes. The front corner and side windows along the bus were shattered, but the marina worker thought the damage "looked worse than it was".

"I think that bus windows are designed to crumble so, it looks worse than it is," they said.

"The force of it hitting the vehicle has caused a ripple effect along the bus and taken the windows out.

"It was just one of those things, it was an accident and I don't think anyone was really hurt. It looked a lot worse than it was to be honest."
