Where does Penarth rank in the UK's nicest places to live?
Property consultant Garrington have published a list ranking 1,372 cities, towns and villages in the UK based on how nice they could be to live in following the Coronavirus pandemic.
Each area has been ranked based on factors including their natural beauty, quality of life and architectural beauty.
Natural beauty: Each location was scored for its proximity to open water, National Parks and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Architectural beauty: Marks were awarded for the number of listed and period homes, as well as modern ultra-energy-efficient homes.
Quality of life: Each area was ranked for its air quality, crime figures and how many farm shops there are within a three-mile radius
So where does Penarth rank?
Well, a disappointing result for Penarth this year (or perhaps a welcome one, depending on your outlook!).
Penarth has placed at number 563rd overall out of the 1,372 areas that were analysed.
The town placed incredibly low in terms quality of life, coming in at 1298th, but placed much higher in the other categories.
The town's natural beauty rank was an average 535rd (have they been to Penarth?!), but we were deservedly ranked a respectable 294th for architectural beauty.
The report also revealed that the average family home in the town costs is between £350k and £650k, giving it a rank of 282 out of the 605 areas in the same price band.
Elsewhere in the Vale of Glamorgan, Barry was ranked 493rd, Llantwit Major 505th, Cowbridge 509th and Rhoose 1212th.
A resident has told Nub News that the low ranking does not concern her.
"Some locals prefer it to remain a secret because they like homes to be seen as safe communities to grow in, rather than commodities to be traded for profit."
The report claimed the nicest place to live in the whole of the UK was Bath, with the rest of the top 5 being made up by Tenby, Bradford on Avon, Ilfracombe and Canterbury.
