BEHIND THE PHOTO: Ann Clwyd, Jeremy Bowen and local trader Angelina Hall all feature in this slice of history

The Station Approach shop Glass By Design has a new window display featuring a very special photograph.

Taken in 1969 in Thompson's Park, Canton, the photo appeared in the fashion spread of the "South Wales" magazine.

It shows a four-year-old Angelina Hall in a Welsh flannel dress stepping down from a log.

As owner of Glass By Design and chair of Penarth Business Group, Angelina is a well-known local figure.

But the spread is significant for strangely featuring two otherwise unconnected national celebrities.

The young man helping Angelina is young Jeremy Bowen, who went on to become the BBC's Middle East correspondent. His mother Jennifer was the photographer.

To make things extra weird, the photo caption was written by prominent Labour MP Ann Clwyd. She was working for 'South Wales' as a young journalist at the time.

This quirky little slice of history is now the centrepiece of Angelina's new window Welsh flannel product range.

"We have teamed up with Rowley's to make a window based on Welsh Flannel and Tapestry," says Angelina. "Cathy O'Doherty has designed a number of glass dishes with tapestry inspired patterns, and I have created some hand painted Welsh Ladies."
