With shops declaring limited supplies of hand sanitiser across the country due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus, Nub News went to investigate the situation in Penarth and the shelves are looking pretty sparse.
Boots have completely sold out of hand sanitiser despite having a full restock this morning. They had also sold out of most anti-bacterial handwash.
The well-known pharmacist has limited the amount that customers can purchase to two bottles per person but still sold out within an hour of opening today.
Similarly, the other independent pharmacists had no stock of anti-bacterial gel. Washington Pharmacy had a sign outside stating: ''No Hand Sanitiser Gel or Surgical Masks in Stock.''
In terms of supermarkets, the Co-op and Sainsbury's have sold out of anti-bacterial handwash whilst Tesco has a very limited supply. None of them currently have hand sanitiser available.
Paracetamol was also low in stock, with many of the pharmacists and stores having none available until restock on Friday.
Soap bars are the most effective method of hand washing and anti-bac gel should be used as a substitute when this is unavailable. Soap is still available in most shops in Penarth
