A Penarth resident, and NHS worker, has described the kindness shown to them by local business Penarth Tyres after their car was vandalised over the weekend.

The local garage got in touch with the family after seeing that they had their rear window smashed by an individual or group on Friday night/ early Saturday.

The incident would have left them without a car for two weeks, which would have meant that Ms Hatch would have struggled to get to work.

She said: "Chris, who owns Penarth Tyres on Station Road, heard about what happened and knowing that I am considered an essential worker, as I work full time for the NHS as a Nursing Assistant, has given us a car, absolutely free of charge. He did this without hesitation in order for us to use until our vehicle is back up and running.

"It was such a lovely act of kindness and has now enabled me to get back and forth to work.

"We had a number of offers from people wanting to help. People have been so kind. There are really good people around in Penarth and the community spirit is wonderful."

Her husband Daniel added: "It's such a kind gesture which epitomises the Penarth community. Chris contacted us out of nowhere and to be honest it's really touched us."
