Albert Crescent is set to close for three days in early June while the Vale Council perform tree maintenance.

The entire road will be inaccessible to "all vehicular traffic" between Tuesday 1 June and Friday 4 June from 9:15am to 3:30pm.

The Temporary Road Closure Notice provided gives the following reason for the closure: "To allow for tree felling works to take place".

However, the Vale of Glamorgan Council have informed Nub News that no trees will in fact be cut down.

A Council spokesperson passed on the following information:

"A number of trees along Albert Crescent in Penarth are set to undergo maintenance work to improve their appearance.

"Work to prune and landscape the trees will take place between Tuesday and Friday next week during which time the road will be closed.

"No trees will be cut down or removed as part of this process."

Pollarding, trimming and crown reduction work will be undertaken, particularly on the large horse chestnut tree that extends its branches over the road.

Residents have been asked not to park in certain areas during the works via notices pinned to target trees.

One complained about the "poor wording" on the notice but was otherwise in favour of the works, which have been deemed necessary.
