"A Special School", the three-part documentary about Penarth's Ysgol Y Deri, will air on BBC Two on Friday 13 November after proving a hit on BBC Wales.

The programme gives viewers an insight into the inspirational work that goes on at Ysgol y Deri, the only special education needs school in the Vale.

It made a huge impact in Penarth, and must have drawn a large audience across Wales.

A message to the school's headteacher, Chris Britten, from the show's producer and director Ffion Humphries read:

"It is really unusual for a network to take a series from the regions. We're super chuffed Chris, as we hope the Ysgol Y Deri community will be.

"So glad that your amazing work and ethos can be seen outside Wales as well."

The news comes at an exciting time for Ysgol Y Deri. Nub News last week announced that the Vale of Glamorgan Council was planning to build a new building for the school at the proposed Cosmeston Park development site.

If you haven't seen it yet, the programme is also still available on BBC iPlayer.
