The  Friends of St Augustine's year will commence with two linked events in March.

For centuries, before the town of Penarth was built, there was a village, though you'd be hard pressed to find any traces today. Yet traces there are.

On Sunday, 2 March between 2pm and 4pm, in St Augustine's church, there will be a chance to see and hear about some things that still survive there from the village that was destroyed in the 19th century and learn about the church's place in the village and some of the people who lived there.

Then on Thursday, 13 March at 7 pm, there will be a talk in St Augustine's church hall in Albert Road entitled 'Penarth - the lost village'.

Where were the houses, who lived here, what was life like?

The talk will look at these questions and draw attention to what you can still find that recalls the community that existed here for so many centuries, before disappearing under the bricks and concrete of the present town.
