Friday & Saturday evening (from 19:30): The Full Monty - The Broadway Musical

The Full Monty is on at the Paget Rooms in Penarth from Wednesday, May 18 to Saturday, May 21 at 19:30. (Image credit: Peter Knowles - PODS)

Based on the hit film of the same name, The Full Monty is filled with honest affection, engaging songs, and the most highly anticipated closing number of any show.

While spying on their wives at a "girls' night out," a group of unemployed steelworkers sees how much they enjoy watching male strippers.

Jealous, out of work and feeling emasculated, the men come up with a bold way to make some quick cash by forming their own act – a team of male strippers with "real man" bodies. In preparing for their show, they find themselves extremely exposed, not only physically but emotionally.

As they conquer their fears, self-consciousness and prejudices, the men come to discover they're stronger as a group and the strength they find in each other gives them the individual courage to "let it go."

The Full Monty is a story full of heart. With a raucous mix of razor-sharp humour and toe-tapping pizzazz, this heartwarming, upbeat comedy is a must-see.

It's on at the Paget Rooms in Penarth from Wednesday, May 18 to Saturday, May 21 at 19:30.

Sunday (10:00 – 15:00): Get Out! Mindfulness Retreat Day

A day out in nature with like-minded people will help you to slow down, reconnect with yourself and take a break from demanding everyday life.

I am Lene, co-founder of Dawnstalkers and Founder of Get Out! Mindfulness Retreat Days.

I moved to Penarth in August 2020 and watching our Dawnstalkers Community grow over the last year inspired me to now fully concentrate on helping people reconnect with themselves.

I take groups of 6-8 people out on a led group hike and guide several meditations and mindfulness exercises along the way. We will also go for a cold-water dip in a lake - the best way to put aside all your thoughts and just be in the moment.

As the Retreat Day is guided and planned (even lunch is sorted!), you don't have to think about anything for that day, all you must do is allow yourself to take a day off and sign up. Then you just come along and enjoy the peace.

You will come back home into 'Real Life', feeling energised and nourished, ready to tackle the next days and weeks with a positive mindset.
