Here's what's coming up

Friday morning (11:30 – 12:30): Laugh in Penarth

LAUGH IN PENARTH classes run every Friday, apart from during school holidays. (Image credit: Laugh in Penarth - Facebook)

Laughter Yoga is a unique form of gentle exercise that involves unconditional laughter, breathing and youthful playfulness.

Despite the word 'yoga' being in the name, it doesn't involve any bendy poses performed on a mat on the floor, so it's suitable for people of any age and any level of fitness - you can choose to either stand up or sit on a chair as you laugh which makes it really easy for everyone to do.

Regular hearty laughter produces significant benefits for health (physical and mental), happiness levels, cognitive function and mood. It also provides an opportunity for you to laugh at whatever challenges life may send your way in a supportive, joy-filled environment.

If you, or someone you know, could do with a little bit of laughter and happiness in your life surrounded by like-minded people, please come along and join the millions of people around the world who attend more than 20,000 Laughter Yoga Clubs on a regular basis.

LAUGH IN PENARTH classes run every Friday (apart from during school holidays) at 11:30 at All Saints Church LESSER Community Hall, Victoria Square, Penarth.

Pre-booking is encouraged but is not required. You can book on in advance if you wish (and this will guarantee you have a place) but you don't have to. You can just turn up on the day, pay £3 (cash only) and start laughing.

Suitable for any age from 14+, although minors must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Follow the Laugh in Penarth Facebook page.

Saturday afternoon (14:00): Caryl Lewis: 'Seed' - Children's Event - Penarth Literary Festival

This event is suitable for children ages 7-12. (Image credit: Griffin Books)

Join Caryl Lewis as she introduces her new novel, Seed! Seed is a funny and uplifting story about the power of the imagination and the importance of believing that anything is possible.

Seed started with a little idea, a seed of an idea, and grew into a marvellous adventure. So, where do writing ideas come from? How can we grow them? And where can they take us?

Listen to Caryl to find out and hopefully you'll leave with a few ideas of your own. This event is suitable for children ages 7-12. Please note accompanying adults do not need to buy a ticket, but you will be required to stay with your child/children for the entire event.

Marty doesn't have much. Unlike his mum, who has billions of things: newspapers, holey shoes, rusty lawnmowers, broken picture frames - she keeps EVERYTHING!

It's hard to leave the house. Marty does his best to look after her and wonders if anything will ever change. But on Marty's birthday, Grandad, with a glint in his eye, gifts Marty a very special seed. Grandad hasn't been this excited since he invented the bum scratcher 2000 or thought he'd brewed wonder fuel from rhubarb leaves!

The seed grows bigger and bigger and launches Grandad, Marty and his best friend Gracie on an impossible, wondrous plan fuelled by love, hopes and dreams. Perfect for fans of Ross Welford, Jenny Pearson and Lisa Thompson.

Caryl Lewis originally comes from Dihewyd near Aberaeron. She graduated from Durham University before returning to Aberystwyth University to get a higher degree in writing. Iawn Boi? won the Tir na n-Og award in 2004 and her novel Martha Jac a Sianco was named Book of the Year in 2005. In her spare time, she loves to draw and eat Maltesers.
