Residents and staff at MHA Ty Gwyn care home in Penarth have embraced British Pie Week by taking part in a variety of pie-themed activities.

Neil our Community Co-ordinator and Radica our Chef put together a pie themed menu which tantalised the taste buds of both staff and residents.

It included a selection of meat, sweet and savoury pies. Throughout the week residents took part in pie themed activities and reminiscence sessions.

Resident Joan Denning said: "You cannot beat a good hot piece of pie on a cold wet day, it warms you up like central heating.

"You don't need to be rich or poor to make and enjoy a good old fashioned pie with friends and family."

Joan later added that her favourite pie was a deep filled Apple pie with hot Custard.

Neil Chadwick Community Co-ordinator at MHA Ty Gwyn, said: We would like to say a massive thank you to Morrisons in Cardiff Bay for the very generous donation towards our pie themed adventures.

"With their help we were able to give the residents the superb taste and experience the adventure of British Pie Week 2021.

Radica the Chef at the care home, added: the menu Neil and I put together lived up to the motto 'Live, Life, Eat, Pie'. With the donation from Morrisons we were able to enhance the dining experience for our residents and the hapPIEness on their faces and the feedback I got made the hard work worth it so that they could live later life well.

Val the Home Manager said "We were all excited to celebrate British Pie Week here at Ty Gwyn. I hope the residents loved the pies and the celebrations as much as the staff did."

MHA care homes from across the UK have been joining in with the national celebrations, which are held during the first week of March each year. The charity care provider's mottos for the week are 'Live Life, Eat Pie' and 'Happiness is Home-made.'
