The best five restaurants in Penarth... according to Tripadvisor

In honour of indoor hospitality reopening last week, we've put together a list of the top ten best restaurants and cafes in Penarth according to Tripadvisor.

Let us know if you agree...

  1. Keyif - Restaurant Turkish Mediterranean - 4.5 stars after 196 reviews.

The only restaurant of its kind in the town, Keyif arrived in 2018 and Penarth has never looked back.

Moussaka, kofte, kebab - if it's Turkish and delicious, Keyif does it.

This Nub News reporter has booked a table on Saturday for his first meal out since lockdown was imposed.

"Unequalled in quality and quantity! - said one reviewer

  1. The Busy Teapot - 4.5 stars after 253 reviews

Penarth's premier hangover destination. No frills. Just good cafe grub served by lovable lads.

Renowned for good value full englishes and a touch of normality in an increasingly flashy world.

"Quality banter, great atmosphere... oh and the food - good wholesome food dished up well! Pop in about once a week to listen to the singing."

  1. Ego at The Schooner Inn - 4.5 stars after 399 reviews

The newest and most far flung eatery on this list, Ego at The Schooner Inn has taken the town by storm since it opened in between lockdowns last year.

Everything about it the design is tasteful and the food invariably tasty.

What a great addition to the town.

"Amazing food and fantastic service from Lowis. It was our first evening out after the lockdown. Felt very safe and all precautions being taken by the staff at the restaurant."

  1. Bar 44 - 4.5 stars after 534 reviews

Testament to Penarth's varied high street, in this list we've gone from Turkish, to fry up, and now to tapas.

I'm yet to go, but I can't wait to. We were sad to announce in March that the original Cowbridge branch closed due to COVID, but long live Bar 44 Penarth.

"Best tapas I've tasted! I'm notoriously fussy and a food snob, but, Absolutely love Bar 44 and we're desperate to go back! The quality of produce is 1st class."

  1. Willmore's 1938 - 5 stars after 79 reviews

I only moved to Penarth in August, and Charlotte Court and Matt Holland were among the first people I met.

Their cafe, Willmore's 1938, is situated on Stanwell Road, plonked perfectly in between the town's main focal points.

There is something fitting about this, because Willmore's is in every sense right at the heart of our town.

"Family friendly good food. We love Wilmore's. The food is so so good and great value for money."

Let us know whether you agree with the list!
