Despite being able to open pub gardens from next week only a couple of venues in Penarth have said they expect to do so. The Railway and the Cefn Mably have both announced that they hope to start service next week, Welsh Government restrictions allowing.

The Railway said: ''Let the count down begin - we are aiming to re-open our pub garden this Monday 13th July.

We have made some changes to assist us in starting to get back to normal:

- opening times 12 - 10 pm

- reduced capacity

- hand sanitising stations

- an app to order ALL drinks/food

- food served 12 - 3pm / 5 - 8pm

- greeted on the entrance and taken to a table

"Regarding bookings, we aren't taking any at present. We are waiting to get the final information from the Welsh Government on Friday, we are waiting to see what social distance measures need to be adhered to and let's not forget the welsh weather isn't the most reliable... If we do go ahead with bookings, we will post it here to let you know.

"We can't wait to see you some of you again soon. 5 more sleeps!"

The App they will use is called "My Pub" and can be downloaded onto your phone.

The Cefn Mably hope to reopen as well and have even increased seating capacity by placing benches in their car park to extend their services.

They said: ''We are still waiting for rules from Wales government this Friday but it will probably be a booking only service with outside seating only etc.

"Due to the fact that you can only sit outside, we are preparing large additional tables for large families! Come and enjoy."

Most other pub venues are not set to reopen next week as many do not have outdoor seating facilities or feel it is not financially viable to reopen given the restrictions. Brains announced that none of their managed pub venues will open whilst indoor facilities are unable to open.

This has affected the Merrier Harrier's reopening as reported by Nub News.
