Year 4 students at Ysgol Pen-y-Garth primary school in Penarth have raised £705 for Ukrainian refugees by taking part in a day-long cyclathon.
Students took it in turns to cycle on spin exercise bikes to cycle from 09:00 – 15:30.
Donations kept coming after the event on March 8 and students managed to raise 470% above their initial target of £150.
Delyth Vaughan, Year 4 teacher at Ysgol Pen-y-Garth, told Nub News: "As a school, we decided that we wanted to try and help the Ukrainian refugees. The children in Year 4 came up with lots of fantastic fundraising ideas.
"We've been overwhelmed by the generosity of the PYG community and we're extremely proud of our pupils."
The children also made and sold clay daffodil candles and held a competition to guess how many sweets were in a jar.
Other year groups at the school are also planning activities to raise money for the Ukraine crisis.
