Penarth opticians burgled in early morning raid

Penarth Eye Centre on Windsor Road was burgled in the early hours on Wednesday morning.

Thieves smashed the shop window and stole thousands of pounds worth of glasses.

In a Facebook post yesterday morning (March 30), Penarth Eye Centre said: "We had a break in this morning with substantial damage and frames stolen.

"We will be open as usual and hopefully cleaned up after police have been but we thank you for your patience with the disruption this has caused."

South Wales Police released a statement: "South Wales Police is investigating a burglary at the Penarth Eye Centre on Windsor Road.

"Glasses worth thousands of pounds have been stolen during the burglary which happened at around 03.30 on Wednesday, March 30.

"Substantial damage has also been caused to the property.

"Being a victim of burglary, whether it's your home, your business, or where you work is a traumatic experience and we are carrying out enquiries to identify and arrest those responsible."
