Traders on Penarth Esplanade have been warned by the Vale of Glamorgan Council that extra seating on the road will have to be removed by June.

The extra seating was approved during the COVID-19 pandemic for customers to sit outside, but the licence will now expire on June 30 and traders will have to remove the extra seating.

The area where the seats are is usually used for car parking, meaning 13 out of 42 parking spaces were unavailable.

A spokesperson for the Vale of Glamorgan Council said: "Licenses to place chairs and tables on the public highway were put in place as a temporary measure to support businesses during the pandemic. These will now end on 30 June 2022."
