Challenge Wales, a sailing charity based in Penarth, has asked for the help of local residents in order to gain access to a £1000 grant.

The local charity aims to help young people grow in confidence, develop teamwork skills, improve their communication skills and help reach their potential.

By nominating them you can help them on their way to receiving the important grant.

They said: ''Challenge Wales needs two minutes of your time to help us get a grant from Movement for Good. Your nomination will really count.

''You will be nominating Challenge Wales for a chance to win a £1,000 grant to enable us to help young people improve their education, life skills and employability prospects.

''At this time, £1,000 will really make a big difference to Challenge Wales and the life-changing work we undertake with young people.

''Nominating Challenge Wales is easy peasy. Just visit this website and nominate 'Challenge Wales' using our Charity Number: 1111859.

''Your nomination could be the one that helps us win!

''The more nominations we get, the greater our chance of winning, so please spread the word.

''Nominations close on Sunday 24th May 2020. It will cost you nothing to help us, except 2 minutes of your time to nominate us.

''Thank you for your support.''

Challenge Wales has faced the issues that many charities across the UK have run into since coronavirus hit the country.

They explained: ''Due to COVID-19, mass participation fundraising events have been postponed or cancelled which has led to a huge drop in fundraising income for charities.

''Like many small charities, we are also not eligible for funding announced by the Government which is going to support front line charities.

''Challenge Wales though will be there after COVID-19 to help young people improve their mental health & wellbeing, develop their life skills and employability prospects through outdoor learning.''
