Isaac, 12, and Teilo, 10, are fundraising to support the NHS, particularly those who care for their Grandpa Paul who is currently living with dementia. They are both running the length of a marathon over 10 days to raise as much money as they can for his ward.
The boys' main aim is to purchase entertainment equipment for the gentlemen of East 14, Dementia Ward at UHW Llandough Hospital.
This would allow patients to remember their favourite tunes and enjoy music on a day-to-day basis.
As the NHS states, music can have many benefits in the setting of dementia. It can help reduce anxiety and depression, help maintain speech and language, is helpful at the end of life, enhances the quality of life and has a positive impact on carers.
Their Go Fund Me page, set up by their mother Michelle, goes into detail about the personal and wider project for the fundraising.
She said: ''For almost four years, my dad has been cared for by the wonderful NHS staff at UHW Llandough Hospital.
''The staff are always looking for ways in which they can stimulate and entertain but unfortunately quite often budget constraints do not allow for those little 'luxuries' which can brighten up the day.
''Singalongs are always enjoyed by the gentlemen on the ward, possibly reviving memories of days gone by.
''Dad has always enjoyed music, playing the piano and listening to his favourite tracks from The Beatles and Neil Diamond.
''We are incredibly grateful to the wonderful staff who form the support team around Dad and the other gentlemen on the ward, they have a challenging job but approach it with love, care and dedication on a daily basis, certainly helping the families as well as the gentlemen, knowing that their loved ones are in loving and professional hands.
''This time of COVID-19 has highlighted the extraordinary dedication of all of our NHS staff.
''Isaac and Teilo have been inspired to join others in raising funds for charity and have chosen to complete a 'marathon over 10 days' - running 2.6 miles each day, for 10 consecutive days, in honour of all the NHS staff, but particularly those who care for their Grandpa Paul.
''The money will be used to purchase a music entertainment system that will enable the gentlemen and staff to listen to their favourite tracks and participate in singalongs and karaoke.
''Any additional fundraising will be used to purchase an Apple Music subscription so that the use of the equipment can be sustained over the coming year and beyond.''
