A Mad Hatter's Vegan Day Out

Absolutely Fabulous' Vegan Fayre returns to Penarth's Paget Rooms this month. Ab Fab organises regular cruelty-free fayres throughout South Wales with an aim to showcase the best in vegan businesses.

The event will have a Mad Hatter theme so everyone should expect lots of decorations and fancy dress. The organiser, Sue Thomas, encourages Penarthians of all ages to join in and dress up as their favourite Alice in Wonderland characters.

Sue has arranged for a host of businesses and individuals to provide the Vegan and cruelty-free products on display. There will be food, arts and crafts, gifts and glitter. There are all the ingredients for a great family day out in Penarth.

Sax For Fun will also take to the stage throughout the day. The 7 piece band will play Reggae, Blues & Jazz. They will also be sporting their own Alice in Wonderland attire to fit with the theme of the day.

The Mad Hatter's day out takes place on the 30th of June. Admission is available from 1pm-5pm. Entry is £1 for adults and children go free.

Below we have listed all of the cruelty-free treats on offer during the day:

UPSTAIRS

Vegan Box Limited:

The Vegan Box Limited is committed to producing & stocking food that is ''plant-based, cruelty-free, sustainable & BANGIN'' - Kebabs, Not Sausage Rolls, Caerphilly Fried Chickun, Ribz in Sticky Sauce etc.

Those Vegan Pizza Guys:

An 100% vegan owned & run street food company based in South Wales. They cook freshly made hand stretched, stone-baked pizza!

Babita's Spice Deli:

Gluten Free Indian & Asian hot food - Made with freshly ground spices.

Crepe Escape:

Local Penarth Eatery will be providing refreshments and cakes

DOWNSTAIRS

Children's Pottery Painting with Nicola Hale and Dunwich Pottery:

Nicola supplies the aprons, pottery wheels and acrylic paints for this crafty activity. Choose your bisque model to paint and decorate before taking home your new creation. Nicola's pottery is also available to buy from the stall.

Sarah Marie Dickenson and her Biodegradable Eco-Friendly Glitter Stall:

Children and Adults can get glittered up with this totally vegan makeup stall.

S & J's Wonderland Corner:

Meet the Mad Hatter and the White Rabbit - They will have a Mad Hatter's Crafts Corner for where children can get creative. Get glittered up and create your very own top hat and bunting.

Greens Vegan:

A brand new Vegan Cafe soon to open in Cardiff. Green's will be serving a colourful selection of coconut base ice cream. It is a great opportunity to have a chat with the new owners and see what they will have to offer.

Mr. Nice Pie with Emyr Harris:

Created in Port Talbot, these pies are a regular supplier for Ab Fab Fairs. Flavours include: Drunken Mushroom, Morrocan Tagine, Rendang Curry, Swedey Todd and the new addition Soy Mince & onion.

Handmade Chocolate Emporium:

Gluten Free Vegan Chocolates available to purchase in boxes - 12 for £10 OR 6 for £5.

The Naked Vegan - Sarah Powney:

100% vegan cakes and donuts, using natural and fresh ingredients.

Happy Daisy:

A wide variety of Vegan treats to try. Happy Daisy sells items like award winning pies, Mac n cheese and a wonderful selection of cakes & muffins.

Sweetest Things:

Jaffa Cakes, Viennese Whirls, Cookies, Lemon Kisses etc.

Alice's Vegan Kitchen - Alice Crelley:

Alice makes large and mini quiches, Frittata, Fruit Tarts, Choc-date & nut tarts, Lemon Muffins, Mac & cheese. She grows a lot of the produce that she uses for her ingredients too.

Liam Fitzpatrick - The No Meat Steak Company:

This is a new addition to the fair. The family business originated in Brecon but will be joining Ab Fab this month in Penarth. Liam has worked hard to create vegan food with the taste and texture of quality meat. They will be selling: Seitan Steaks, Burgers, Roasts etc.

Danielle Bradley - Daddies Lil Pickle:

Danielle makes gluten free pastries. Check out her range of pies and Wellington's.

Windsor fruit Stores:

Organic fruit and veg shop with many more vegan treats on offer too. Based in the heart of Penarth, this family run store provides quality local food. Deliveries are FREE with orders over £10.

CRAFT

Polaroid Notelets - These cards are made from photographs and are left blank for your own messages.

Cara Rendell - Conscious Crafts By Cara:

Cara makes a range of eco-friendly items: Pyropenned chopping boards, Coasters, Fridge Magnets, Spoons, vegan wax reusable food wraps etc.

Sue Jones -The Sand, Sea And Me:

Quality handmade cushions, bags & makeup bags, pictures & gifts for family etc. Sue's work is inspired by the beautiful Coastland & Countryside. Commissions are also welcome.

Jewellery - Double Stall:

Tropic - Lynne Rogers from Newport:

Promotion & Sale of Tropic Skin Care Range, all of which is Natural, Vegan and Cruelty-Free.

Hedgewitch Emporium - Jodie Owens:

Selling all natural soaps, bath products, incense sticks etc.

Neals Yard Organics - Ruth Ford:

Mops, clothes and cleaning equipment with no harsh or chemical cleaning involved.

ANIMAL RESCUES & CHARITIES

Hillside Animal Sanctuary:

Wendy was the original founder of Redwings before starting up Hillside. Hillside Animal Sanctuary was founded in 1995 to help and campaign for animals in need. They now have over 3,000 animals. Wendy's stall will sell new merchandise and will also be hosting a raffle to fundraise.

Whispering Willows Sanctuary:

Whispering Willows is a small, private Rescue & Sanctuary based in Pontardawe and Gowerton, South Wales. They take in horses and ponies.
