Job Description

Were looking for an experienced Mechanical Pump Engineer (Field Based) to join a well-established pump solutions company covering Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, and Bedfordshire!

Youll work on a variety of clean water and wastewater systems, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, repairs, fault-finding, and installations. This includes booster sets, pressurisation units, pumping stations, submersible pumps, and associated pipework/valve systems.

Youll work both independently, and part of a two-person team for larger projects. Nights away are very rare.

This is a Full-Time, Permanent position!

What youll be doing

  • Carry out mechanical servicing, installations, and commissioning of pumps, booster sets, valves, and pipework
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical faults to optimise system performance
  • Work on both clean water and wastewater systems, including submersibles and sewage pumping stations
  • Attend planned maintenance visits and respond to emergency breakdowns
  • Complete accurate site reports and liaise with office support teams
  • Work independently and as part of a team depending on project requirements
  • Deliver excellent customer service and maintain safe working practices

Hours

Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm (flexibility required)

Pay

£38,000 £40,000 basic (depending on experience) with an OTE up to £50,000 with overtime and bonuses

  • Overtime at time
  • Double pay on Sundays
  • First-fix bonus
  • Call-out allowance/bonus

Skills/Experience Required

Essential

  • Mechanical engineering qualifications (NVQ, City & Guilds, Apprenticeship etc)
  • Mechanical experience with pumps, valves, pipework, or similar systems
  • A valid UK driving licence

Preferred

  • Background in utilities, water treatment, or drainage
  • CSCS, First Aid, or Confined Space training
