UNTIL Friday 29th July

Dust off your favourite holiday outfit and head to Griffin Books for a very special party in the shop. (Image credit: Griffin Books)

Dust off your favourite holiday outfit and head to Griffin Books for a very special party in the shop. We'll be joined by authors Laura Kemp, Helga Jensen and Evonne Wareham who will introduce their latest books - all perfect for packing in your suitcase this summer. Plus, we'll be picking the brain of local travel coordinator Jo Baldwin, and sharing some of our own staff recommendations for the ultimate summer read.

We might not be sipping margaritas on a sun-kissed Mediterranean beach, but we do have more books than you can shake your cocktail umbrella at - and that's much better right!

Laura Kemp writes funny, feel-good but real romantic fiction. A former local and national journalist, she lives in Penarth with her family and bases her books - all eight of them - in Wales, inspired by the people and landscape. When she's not at her desk, you'll find her walking the dog aka The Secretary, swimming in the sea by the pier and generally having a midlife crisis.

Helga Jensen is an award-winning British/Danish author and journalist. Her debut novel was a winning entry in the 2017 Montegrappa First Fiction competition at Dubai's Emirates Literary Festival. Her second romantic comedy, A Scandinavian Summer, went straight to number one on the Amazon Kindle charts for Danish travel on its publication day. A former airline stewardess, she now has her feet firmly on the ground and lives in West Wales with her wonderful family, including a crazy Labradoodle who never stops making her laugh.

Evonne Wareham is an award-winning local author of romantic suspense - more crime and dead bodies than your average romance. Born in Barry, she likes to set her books in Wales, or for a touch of glamorous escapism, in her favourite holiday destinations in Europe. She is a Doctor of Philosophy and a historian, and a member of the Romantic Novelists' Association, the Welsh writing collective Crime Cymru and the Crime Writers' Association, which means she gets invited to three times as many social events. Her most recent novel A Villa in Portofino, the third in the Riviera series, was a nominee for the prestigious Jackie Collins Romantic Thriller of the Year Award 2022, presented by the Romantic Novelists' Association.
