After a one year interruption, Cardiff Canoe Club has announced it ispleased to be returning to Cosmeston Lakes Country Park in April 2023.

The club, which has run canoeing, kayaking and paddleboarding sessions over the summer period in previous years, was not able to run sessions during 2022 due to a number of cases of bird flu in the Vale of Glamorgan that resulted in the closure of the lake for all users.

With the lake now open again and with lighter evenings and warmer weather on the way, the club will be re-starting its sessions at the venue.

It's a great spot to try paddlsports, big enough to explore, taking in the flora and fauna from a new perspective, but small and sheltered enough for it to be a safe place to get to grips with the sport.

Thanks to Canoe Wales, the club will have use of an accessible pontoon to enable paddlers with reduced mobility to safely access paddlecraft for use on the lake.

For new paddlers, the club runs introductory sessions in kayaking for adults and children every month. For competent paddlers, membership of the Club gives access to weekly sessions on the lake between April and September as well as indoor sessions through the winter months and white water and sea kayaking trips around the UK.
