Penarth business woman, Julie Plumb, has been announced as one of 40 women to watch for at Inaugural Digital Women Awards.

The DigitalWomen Awards in association with Natwest Business and the Federation of Small Businesses celebrate women working in digital and digital business from their amazing community and beyond who are doing the most incredible work in the digital space they operate in, those who are making the right moves and going beyond and above what is usually expected.

Network Rail will be carrying out safety-critical vegetation management on lines running up to and including Penarth station.

These works will take place each night from 23:15 to 05:15 from Monday 9th March to Friday 13th March 2020. This work will be on the railway line from River view to Penarth Station.

Earlier reports that Dinas Medical Centre was closed proved to be unfounded.

The Vale Council stated that these statements were inaccurate and the Dinas Medical centre is open.

It was an early start for the RNLI and Penarth Coastguard volunteer crews this morning following reports of a submerged vehicle near Sofia Garden.

Both boats were tasked shortly after 8:15 am to the River Taff in Cardiff after reports of a submerged, upturned vehicle were spotted near Sofia Gardens.

Loganair has stepped in to operate Edinburgh/Cardiff service after the Flybe collapse which will be a relief to local residents that use this internal flight.

Loganair has announced a daily service between Cardiff and Edinburgh, launching on 23 March, with plans to increase frequency to 10 flights a week from September 2020.

Katerina Stechman and Liz Clark started a monthly Penarth Repair Café in June 2018 - a wonderful community eco event where people with skills offer their time to fix items that would otherwise end up in a landfill.

The café is open on the 4th Sunday of the month between 2 - 5 pm (excluding August and December) in St. Augustine's Parish hall.

With shops declaring limited supplies of hand sanitiser across the country due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus, Nub News went to investigate the situation in Penarth and the shelves are looking pretty sparse.

Boots have completely sold out of hand sanitiser despite having a full restock this morning. They had also sold out of most anti-bacterial handwash.

Transport for Wales has joined other rail network providers in offering passengers and staff members affected by the Flybe administration issues free travel.

They said: ''We'd like to offer our support to stranded Flybe passengers: you can travel on our trains free by showing your Flybe booking confirmation for one week from today.''

An ex-employee of Flybe and Penarth resident, who left the company just before it collapsed, spoke to Nub News about the announcement.

Charlotte said: ''I mean it's absolutely heartbreaking, I left my job with Flybe recently before this all happened.
