The downpours failed to put off the crowds at the R.N.L.I's annual sailing event on Friday the 7th of June, which attracted 150 people.

The event consists of the local sailing community offering their boats - with the owners acting as Skipper - to local businesses and individuals who then make a donation to the RNLI for their days sailing in the Bristol Channel.

Crafty Devil Cellar, a recent addition to Penarth's high street, was vandalised in the early hours of Sunday Morning. Two handmade plant pots were emptied and stolen from the entrance of the store.

The business expressed their distress on Facebook this morning, writing: ''It is pretty low stealing from a small independent business. These plant pots were made by the father of one of the directors so is pretty unique if you see them around. They are also black which is pretty rare.

Penarth independent bookshop, Griffin Books, brings the Penarth Literature Festival back for another year with events to suit all ages and all reading tastes.

"We're really excited for this year's festival," says Kate, Events Manager at Griffin Books. "It's absolutely jam-packed with events on hugely interesting topics. It's a real joy to host it for the community."
