Penarth's Christmas Window Competition was officially launched at the switch on of the town lights on Sunday 17th November.
Independent shops and businesses, together with Penarth Library, are competing to see who will be declared as having the best dressed Christmas window for 2019.

The businesses which reside in Windsor Arcade have clubbed together to light up the historic building this festive period.
Penarth Town Council are responsible for bringing the town centre to life but the shops in the arcade wanted to have their own decorations on display.

A Penarth business man has received a significant fine for failing to properly store fireworks following a successful trading standards investigation for Vale of Glamorgan Council.
Shared Regulatory Services (SRS), who undertake that work across the Local Authority areas of Bridgend, Cardiff and the Vale, prosecuted Gurnwab Singh under the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974.

The general election candidates have been confirmed for the Penarth and Cardiff South Area.
Six candidates will run for the election in the hope of gaining a seat for the constituency.

A Penarth based duo have picked up the 'Export Business of the Year' award for their business Brite Angle at the Welsh SME business awards 2019.
Penarth residents and husband and wife, Stephen Wornham and Carol Gillanders run the Cardiff based company.
Residents in Alexandra Court are complaining that the lights along the Dolly Steps path to the Esplanade have been out of action for over a year.
One has provided pictures of the lights which should make the steps and paths alongside the edge of the park safe, but don't due to the lack of repair.
Penarth Dental Healthcare is offering free oral cancer screening checks for local residents during Mouth Cancer Action Month.
On November the 22nd between 1-2 pm people can walk into the clinic, on Stanwell road, and get checked.

The Welsh Ambulance Service, which provides services for Penarth, the Vale and further afield, has received its first dementia cannula sleeves, devised and made by volunteers at Handmade for Dementia.
The sleeves have proven to keep dementia patients calm and stop them from pulling needles out of their arms during treatment.
