Willmore's 1938 in Penarth have been fighting against the tide of the coronavirus and have persevered amid an ever-changing situation with a positive attitude and innovative techniques to keep their popular local cafe going.
They are currently offering a zero-contact takeaway system in the mornings and a food delivery (minimum £10) service in the afternoons.
Describing the response from local residents they said: ''One lady rang to place an order for coffee delivery.
''We said ideally it's for food and maybe coffee too. To cut a long story short she insisted on giving us £10 over the phone to help us out.
''She asked that we would use it to pay for someone who needed food or drinks. So we did.
''She wouldn't leave her name but Mrs Taylor (we think) just so you know we let 2 people have free stuff. One who'd lost her job and another who just needed help. You made two people smile.''
''Thank you all for you support everyone.
They also mentioned other local businesses and said: ''Everyone, please use our amazing local suppliers who are running around getting stock from everywhere to help and deliver.
''Our love of Penarth is our strength. We won't give up.''
Call 02920709600 to pre-order delivery after 2 pm or to order takeaway from 10 am - 2 pm.
