Penarth's Crepe Escape has won best dessert takeaway of the year at the Welsh Takeaway Awards 2019.

The inaugural Welsh Takeaway Awards 2019 provided an opportunity to showcase those who performed well over the past years and are considered the best choice by the public.

The awards also celebrated top establishments that strive to be different.

They commended those who deliver great food to their customers in a timely manner, making it easier to enjoy their meal while in the comfort of their homes.

Crepe Escape announced the news on their Facebook page. They said: ''Thank you everyone who voted, you can never underestimate how much these things mean to us all. We work so hard and it means so much when you wonderful people recognise that! Thank you, thank you, thank you.''

Several of the awards were split into local regions to ensure the diverse range of businesses from across Wales are recognised for providing unique dishes, creating a true gastronomic experience.

Irfan Younis, CEO of Creative Oceanic said: "Although in the first year, we are honoured by the fantastic response we have had from the public who was so keen to vote for their favourite takeaways.

"This industry has grown massively over the past years and we aimed to seek out, reward and thank those who have managed to make a real difference by serving fantastic food, using the best of ingredients.

"The winners are an outstanding example of excellence whose dedication to be the best has made them stand out among the rest.

"We would like to congratulate all finalists and winners for their amazing achievements."
