We are looking for an experienced Butcher/Prep Chef to join our team at The London House Butchery based in Whitland, South Wales (close to Tenby recognised as one of the top seaside towns in the UK). We are an artisan and traditional butchery and food hall, specialising in selling a wide range of high-quality locally sourced meats and related products.

Whitland lies, just off the A40, at the Western edge of Carmarthenshire & beside the border with Pembrokeshire. Whitland is well positioned for connectivity inclusive of a railway station allowing access from London to Fishguard. Its a busy market Town, growing with a diverse array of businesses & local amenities. Ample free parking is available.

Accommodation Options: There is a good array of accommodation options locally from houses or flats to rent or purchase.

The London House Butchery is committed to develop Staff members. We all learn differently & keen to support your development needs. This could include one to one management training, job specific training & further personnel development.

As participants involved in a select National Group, opportunities arise for networking and sharing best practice offering peer to peer support & sharing innovative ideas to enable you to flourish.

As a Butcher you will:

  • Play an active role in preparing, cutting and processing meat from carcass to plate.
  • Prepare added value products.
  • Deliver an outstanding experience to all customers.
  • Create inspiring, innovative, seasonally changing displays.
  • Ensure self-serve displays in chillers are attractive and shoppable.
  • Proactively share product information with the team and with customers.
  • Practice necessary due diligence health and safety, food safety etc.
  • Stock control / Inventory Management.

Opening/working hours: Tuesday Saturday, 08:00-17:30 (45 hour working week)

We are keen to speak to people about this Butcher opportunity who have the following skills and experience:

  • Strong knife skills ideally gained through work as a Butcher or Prep - Chef.
  • A comprehensive knowledge of meat cuts and animal anatomy.
  • The ability to Bone, Cut, Tie and Portion Control.
  • A passion for food.
  • Excellent customer service and sales skills.
  • Commercial awareness and the understanding of yields and costs.
  • Good communication skills at all levels.
  • Honest, reliable and dedicated.
  • Due to use of machinery, minimum age of applicants is 18 years.

In return you will receive a salary of £30,000 - £35,000 per annum, dependent on skills and experience.
