Senior Electrical Design Engineer - Utilities/Water Treatment - Cookstown (Hybrid) - Up to £65,000 SalaryAs part of the Design Team, the Senior EICA Design Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and delivery of Electrical, Instrumentation, Control, and Automation systems for water and wastewater treatment projects for various clients.The hours of work for this role are 40 hours per week Monday to Friday, in addition, this role is a hybrid role which requires 2/3 Days in the office.This role involves working as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure that all EICA elements are integrated effectively into project designs, meet regulatory requirements, and adhere to industry best practices. The Senior EICA Engineer will manage the design process from concept through to detailed design, supporting project delivery and ensuring systems operate efficiently, safely, and within budgetRoles and responsibilities- Lead the EICA design process for water and wastewater treatment projects, ensuring integration with civil, mechanical, and process design elements- Develop and produce high-quality electrical, instrumentation, control, and automation designs, including Single Line Diagrams, Component Based Developments, Load Schedules, Systems Architecture, Cable Calculations, I/O schedules, and Electrical Install.- Ensure that designs are compliant with technical standards, industry regulations, and safety codes, with a focus on electrical safety and automation security.- Manage the development of control strategies for water treatment processes, ensuring proper functionality of instrumentation and control systems.- Collaborate with project teams to ensure that EICA designs are aligned with overall project objectives and integrate effectively with other engineering disciplines.- Conduct technical reviews of EICA designs and drawings, ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance with project specifications and client requirements.- Provide technical expertise during construction, commissioning, and handover stages, ensuring that EICA systems are installed, tested, and operated according to design specifications.- Develop functional specifications and technical documentation for electrical and control systems.- Assist with tender evaluations and selection of vendors for electrical and control equipment.- Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities to ensure designs meet project and regulatory requirements.- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior EICA engineers and other team members.Candidate requirements:- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in EICA design engineering, preferably in the water or wastewater treatment industry.- Strong knowledge of control system architectures, PLCs, SCADA, and instrumentation for water treatment processes.- Experience in working through the full project lifecycle, including concept, detailed design, construction, and commissioning.- Proficiency in using electrical design software and tools, as well as SCADA, PLCs, and other automation systems- Experience in sustainable design principles, including energy-efficient electrical systems and automation solutions.Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards it.- Master's degree in Electrical, Control, or Automation Engineering. Support the design and development of safe, modular product systems and subsystems. Contribute to project planning, managing personal workload, and meeting delivery milestones. Prepare and review technical documentation including manuals and service instructions. Provide support during factory testing and field commissioning. Embrace new technologies and support continuous improvement initiatives.

To ensure effective handover of information across shift Uses PMS to support prioritisation and problem solving (RCFA) To diagnose faults and to test , repair and maintain Mechanical / Electrical equipment To observe, recognise and report on machinery or component defects or symptoms of impending failure and provide CMMS data Contact OEM's and other suppliers for technical support as and when required and expedite parts when not available on site Lead shift based problem solving where corrective actions aren't clear Working as ONE TEAM with First Line Response Technician Coaching of operators with asset care tasks Identify & implement Improvements Identify life cycle issues and raise these with possible recommendations Use and support simple 5WHY OE techniques / RCA techniques through to 100 year fix Use and support departmental 5s programmes for workshops and stores

An experienced Electrical Design engineer is required on behalf of BAE Systems Prestwick. £47.12 per hour Umbrella
