Penarth Esplanade is currently closed to traffic, as resurfacing works take place.

The work, which began on Monday, is part of a £200,000 project to rejuvinate the area.

Currently, road resurfacing is taking place, which is expected to take two weeks.

During this time, sections of highway between Bridgeman Road and Marine Parade will be closed during the daytime on weekdays until 22 October.

Workers estimated that the cafés and restaurants would be able to set chairs and tables outside again from tomorrow.

Railings, benches, bollards, lighting columns, decking around the pavilion, the Pier Head Hut and toilets will be painted as part of work expected to be completed by the end of the year.
